PawScale ("the App") helps you track your own and your pets' weight. We treat privacy as part of the product: we collect only what the features require, we show no ads, and we never sell or share your data with third parties.
1. Information we collect
Account information. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your user identifier, email address, display name and profile picture from that provider. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose "Hide My Email", we only ever receive the anonymous relay address Apple gives us.
Pet profiles. The name, species, breed, sex, birthday and avatar you enter for each pet.
Weight records. The pet and owner weights you record, along with their timestamps, notes and entry method. Weight is health-related data and we treat it with the same care as your account data.
Images you upload. Photos you choose as pet avatars.
The App does not collect your precise location, contacts, call history or browsing history, and contains no advertising or third-party behavioural analytics SDKs.
2. How we use it
We use your information solely to operate the App: to identify your account, to store and display your pets and weight data, to draw weight charts, and to generate the share cards and share links you explicitly create.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling or automated decision-making, and we do not use it to train any machine learning models.
3. Storage and security
Your data is stored on infrastructure provided by Cloudflare (D1 database and R2 object storage) and may be processed outside your country of residence. All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS.
Every server endpoint requires authentication, and every query is scoped to your own account, so other users cannot reach your data.
4. Disclosure to others
We do not sell your personal information and do not disclose it for marketing. Data leaves the App only in these cases:
Shares you create. When you generate a share link, we store a snapshot of the content you selected — your pet's name, avatar, weight and trend, plus your own weight change only if you ticked that option — and publish it at a random, unguessable URL. Anyone with the link can view that snapshot. You can revoke it at any time under "My share links" in the App, which disables the link immediately.
People you invite to co-track a pet. See the next section.
Sign-in providers. Apple and Google process your sign-in under their own privacy policies.
Legal requirements. We may disclose information where the law clearly requires it.
5. Co-tracking and weight sharing
You can invite family or friends to co-track a pet with you, and separately decide whether to let them see your own weight. These are two independent things:
Co-tracking (pets). Invites apply per pet: pets you did not pick stay completely invisible to them. Once someone joins, they can view and add weight records for that pet and can see your display name and avatar; every record is labelled with who logged it. Only the creator (owner) can invite, remove members, transfer or delete the pet.
Co-tracking never shares your own weight. Even when you log the same pet together (including hold-and-weigh entries), the other person sees the pet's weight and who logged it — not your own weight.
Weight sharing (you). This must be switched on explicitly under Settings → Share my weight. It is one-directional: sharing with someone does not mean they share with you, and you can switch it off at any time, which revokes their access immediately. You can only share with people you already co-track a pet with.
After a member leaves. Records they logged for that pet stay with the pet (otherwise its weight chart would have an unexplained gap). If they delete their account, authorship of those records is anonymised. We do not notify anyone when they are removed.
6. Retention and deletion
We keep your data until you delete it. You can permanently close your account from Settings → Delete account in the App. Doing so cascades: all of your pets, weight records, share links and uploaded images are erased and cannot be recovered.
If a pet you own is still being co-tracked by others, we tell you before deletion: you can either transfer ownership to them, or explicitly confirm that their shared records should be deleted too.
You may also delete individual weight records or pets at any time.
7. Your rights
You can view, correct and delete everything you have submitted directly in the App. To request a copy of your data, or to raise a question or complaint about this policy, contact us at the address below.
8. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to this policy
If we update this policy we will revise the effective date at the top of this page, and we will notify you inside the App if the change is significant.
